How to Customize a Community or Cultural Protocol Page

Last Updated: May 18, 2017 09:43AM PDT
Community and Cultural Protocol pages can be customized to provide more information for users, and to be more inviting. Areas that can be customized are the Description (which can include text, images, audio, and video), Banner Image, and Thumbnail Image.

For suggested size and formatting of the banner and thumbnail images see Mukurtu Image Sizes and Resolutions for Site Customization.
More information on media see Working with Media Assets as a Mukurtu Administrator.

To edit a community or cultural protocol page, navigate to the desired page, and click Edit.

Description

The default text format for the Description field is Filtered HTML. To use the WYSIWYG editor, use the Filtered HTML or the Full HTML settings. More complex editing can be done using code in the Display Suite Code setting.

To embed a media asset (image, audio, or video file) that has already been uploaded to the site, make sure the editor is set to Filtered HTML or Full HTML, then open the media library by clicking on the list icon.

Find the desired file, click on the thumbnail, and drag it into the Description field.

Banner Image

To select a banner image that has already been uploaded to the site, open the media library by clicking on the list icon as above.

Find the desired file, click on the thumbnail, and drag it into the Banner Image area.

Note: the preview on the edit screen will not display at full resolution, but will display normally once the changes are saved.

Thumbnail Image

Note: for a community to be displayed on the home page, it must have a thumbnail image.
To select a thumbnail that has already been uploaded to the site, open the media library by clicking on the list icon.

Find the desired file, click on the thumbnail, and drag it into the Thumbnail Image area.

Click Save when done.
